Water Streams

Leonardo da Vinci studied the movement of water closely. He made detailed drawings of the patterns formed on its surface — waves, cascades, et cetera. Certainly, he saw intriguing natural laws at work, and aspired to figure them out. Being an artist, as well as a scientist, he must also have been impressed by the beauty of these patterns.

       With a camera, such research is done with greater speed, but the time it takes to contemplate those patterns, and to marvel at their beauty — it remains the same. This essential element of our world needs to be studied and contemplated. There are far more things told by the patterns formed in water, than the natural laws ruling them.

       Here are twenty photos of water, taken in Malmö, the town where I live, which gives many an opportunity to the study of it.
