Flossing, Too

When Caroline leaves the bathroom, ready for bed, she spots her father who stands by the closed door to Thomas' room, staring at it. He has his fingertips on the doorknob, but doesn't move at all.

Then he realizes that he is observed, and quickly pulls back his hand. He turns to Caroline, who starts walking her way down the corridor. As she is about to pass him, he asks:

"Have you brushed your teeth?"

She stops and faces him.

"You haven't asked me that for years. I'm fifteen, dad."

George turns away from the door to Thomas' room and sticks his hands deep in the pockets of his pants.

"Well?" he inquires with a rather sharp tone.

"Well, what?"

"Have you?"

Caroline sighs loudly.

"Twice every day, since you asked me last. Wonder about flossing, too?"

She doesn't wait for an answer, but enters her room and slams the door shut.
