Aikijo Exercises for Aikido
Starting position. Tori at left, uke at right.
1 Starting with jo by left side, facing uke, feet together.
chudan kamae, sword drawn and held at middle guard, facing tori.
Step forward with left foot, lift sword to
jodan kamae, over the head.
3 Step forward with left foot, jo to
chudan kamae, middle guard.
4 Step forward to the right with the right foot,
gedan uchi, low level hit on uke's knee, while uke's arms are still over the head. Step forward with right foot.
Chudan giri, vertical cut to middle level, in the direction of tori's original position.
6 Lift jo to
jodan kamae, over the head, and turn toward uke. Yokomen uchi, hit to the side of uke's head.
Yield sword to
migi no waki, right side guard. Retreat three steps.
8 Pull jo back to
chudan kamae, middle guard. Step back to the starting position.
Ending position. Tori at left, uke at right.
